Fleece Guide: How do you choose a fleece?

Fleece Guide: How do you choose a fleece?

Being prepared for weather conditions is essential, especially in the UK. Layering up is critical. To save on space, it’s necessary to have multiple outdoor clothes that do multiple jobs so you can carry only a few things.

The fleece jacket is now available. Good fleeces can make or break an autumn-winter wardrobe and your spring-summer wardrobe. Trespass offers a variety of women’s Fleece, men’s wool, and boy’s yarn. We also provide a girl’s fleece jacket.

While many may associate Fleece with a cozy zipper or fleece hoodie that’s a partial jacket, this is just one of many fleeced-up garment types that would even bring you comfort during a big freeze. What does Fleece look like? Is it lighter or heavier? Is the weight affecting its warmth? Why Is It So Warm?

Below are the answers to your burning questions. So get out your Fleece, and let’s go!

What is Fleece Fabric Made From?

Fleece material has the main advantage of trapping body heat and keeping it warm. Polyester is the most common synthetic fabric. Polyester can be made from two petroleum products or recycled plastic. Polyester fleece is highly durable and water-resistant.

Natural wool clothing was the best option for those who wanted to keep warm and combat the cold in the past. Because of its affordability and mass availability, Fleece is now preferred over wool. It’s also warmer and generally lighter.

The Fleece is still based on natural wool to achieve the ultimate comfort blanket texture.

Is Fleece waterproof?

Fleece is breathable and moisture-resistant, so it can be worn longer.

It is essential to dry Fleece carefully because it is highly flammable and can’t handle the heat. If you are caught in the rain, dry it quickly and avoid ironing it. Also, don’t dry it over a radiator, as too much heat could cause it to burn the Fleece. Pair your yarn with one of our women’s or men’s packable waterproof jackets for lightweight protection.

Is Fleece a vegan?

Our Fleece is either made of cotton or polyester, but sometimes it’s a mixture of both. It is, therefore, wool-free.

If you are conscious about your vegan clothing, it doesn’t mean you have to freeze when it gets cold. Fleece (synthetic wool) can be the most comfortable and heat-trapping fabric available, but it is also wholly ethical. You don’t need to sacrifice style, color, or price to love your clothes.

Weight

Fleece is classified by its weight in grams per square meter (or gsm). This can be confusing since you may not see the importance of your Fleece every day. But we can help. The first-ever fleece manufacturer divided garments by the number of square meters of Fleece.

You can determine how heavy or light the Fleece is by using four measures. Take a look at the following:

Different types of Fleece

There are many types of Fleece available today, and new varieties are introduced every year. We’ll look at three main types so you can choose the right Fleece for your next purchase.

What is a Microfleece?

Microfleece, the smallest and lightest type of Fleece, is available. These original mid-layers are worn under rain jackets, waterproof jackets, and over base layers. Microfleece is ideal for outdoor activities in cold weather. It provides both the highest level of insulation and the most excellent breathability.

Microfleece is generally any fleece that exceeds 200gsm. Because they aren’t too stiff to prevent movement, they allow maximum flexibility during physical exercise. This Fleece is known for its lightweight and can be used as an outer layer in mild outdoor conditions.

Microfleece does not have additional features like multiple pockets or a large hood. It is designed to be lightweight and straightforward.

Midwe Light Fleece

The middle-weight Fleece is the best. This Fleece is ideal for layering on colder days and hiking. Mid-weight Fleece is warmer than lightweight, has better insulation properties, and is more comfortable and breathable.

Although this Fleece is less flexible than microfleece, it’s thick enough to be an everyday outer layer in cool temperatures and a mid-layer when it gets cold. You must pair it with a waterproof jacket and base layer to keep you warm while not engaging in high-energy sports.

A mid-weight fleece is any fleece that weighs between 200gsm to 300gsm.
